Biography

Dr. Stephen J. Snyder is a founding partner of the Southern California Orthopedic Institute, established in 1981. He specializes in arthroscopic surgery and reconstructive procedures of the shoulder joint. Dr. Snyder has been instrumental in developing several new techniques in shoulder arthroscopy and has invented numerous surgical instruments and materials used routinely in modern shoulder surgery. He has also been involved in research protocols evaluating various surgical techniques for the shoulder, including rotator cuff repairs and surgery for dislocating shoulders. Dr. Snyder founded the International Shoulder Arthroscopy Study Group and has served on the Board of Directors of the Arthroscopy Association of North America. He is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons Association and has received the Arthroscopy Association of North America's Lifetime Achievement Award for his contributions to shoulder surgery.
