This patient is exhibiting behavior indicative of an antisocial personality disorder (APD). Individuals with APD are commonly known to have a history of bed wetting.

A personality trait is an enduring pattern of behavior exhibited in a wide range of persons, BUT a personality disorder is pervasive, inflexible, extreme, maladaptive behavior causing impaired functioning or subjective distress. The disorders are ego syntonic - the person has limited awareness of the disorder. Personality disorders are divided into three clusters: A, B, and C. In this scenario, the male has a cluster B personality disorder, which is generally characterized as wild, dramatic, emotional, erratic, and is associated with mood disorders and substance abuse. This male is exhibiting APD, which is characterized by a disregard for and violation of others with a lack of remorse. The classic triad of signs for these people are "set fires, torture animals, and wets the bed."

Angstman and Rasmussen review the diagnostic criteria for APD, stating they must display 3 or more of the following: behavior that is unlawful and failure to conform to social norms; deceitfulness; impulsiveness; aggression; disregard for safety of self and others; irresponsibility in regards to paying bills and maintaining a job; lack of remorse.

Glenn et al. review APD, stating that the prevalence in the population is between 2-3%, with a greater percentage being men than women (3:1). In prison, the prevalence is reported to be 47% for men and 21% for women. Treatment is difficult, as those who have APD rarely seek treatment, and physicians are not keen on treating this population due to their very low compliance with treatment.
