Biography

Dr. Ujash Sheth received his Bachelor of Health Sciences from McMaster University in 2008 and his MD from Queen’s University in 2012. In 2018, he attained his FRCSC in Orthopaedic Surgery following the completion of his residency at the University of Toronto. During his training, he completed an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from the Institute of Health Policy, Management and Evaluation (IHPME) through the Surgeon-Scientist Training Program. His thesis work on knowledge translation and the impact of randomized trials on surgeon practice patterns received national and international recognition, including the prestigious Herodicus Award, for best resident paper at the 2016 AOSSM annual meeting. In 2019, Dr. Sheth completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine and Arthroscopy at Northwestern University, in Chicago, IL, where he served as an Assistant Team Physician for the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Cubs, and Northwestern Wildcats football team. He and his wife, Chantel, also became parents to their 15-month old son, Liam, while in Chicago. With a new baby in tow, he returned home to Toronto to complete a second fellowship in Upper Extremity and Trauma at Sunnybrook. Having grown up in the west end of Toronto, Dr. Sheth is happy to be home and excited to join the University of Toronto’s Division of Orthopaedic Surgery as an Assistant Professor and Surgeon Investigator.
